That was a deadly summer afternoon On the crowded railway station I was in the train compartment As you held my hands from outside Mumbling last few incomplete phrases And the train whisked ahead On the abject railway tracks Leaving you at the platform With your fluttering hand And your despondent heart; Making us apart For the first time Since spring came To our life. I felt hapless As I could not wipe The memories that bubbled out From your irresistible eyes. My heart was slicing apart By the sharp whistles of the train As it forged ahead With it's cruel wheels Cutting you smaller and smaller With it's prickly speed And finally invisible For me. But the poor train was unaware You are inseparable from My heart, conscience, dreams And breath.
