Diving with Saira

by: Harshad M Joshi (murudkar@yahoo.com)

So swiftly through the surf shaking off the waves as sleekly as a seal I could scarcely have imagined you were ever sad or less than rapturously loved. Undersea the bright hard coral softened to your touch Around you a shoal of samurai exploded in black and white a joyous bridal shower A little warrior in bright yellow nibbled at your fingers like a lover Tickled, you arched away seaweed stroked your cheek sunlight carried you away in the ascending bubbles of a champagne flute Back on earth we preserved the protocol of widening eyes and mime to enable us to glide past noisy, knock-kneed finless land mammals until the bright hotel windows closed around you like an aquarium.
