the night sky shines black
darker than anything ive ever seen
it closes around me,
suffocating me.
i am afraid.

i look up. 
i see a star, battling bravely
to shine through the clouds.
i know how it feels.

i hear the waves
crashing on the beach
and the soft murmur
of the wind on my cheek.

suddenly, i am happy.
i am alone.
i am at peace.
